Tribute to Angie

Friday night at the first boy's basketball was awesome - maybe not for what you would think. Mr. Owen started the night telling the crowd that the boys have decided to dedicate their season to Angie. The boys are wearing a patch on the left shoulder of their jerseys with a red ribbon and her initials. They told a little about Angie and her support for the team & asked for a moment of silence as the boys on the team placed a rose on her seat behind the team - it was really an awesome thing to watch these boys show their respect for someone they loved and will miss so much. I'm not sure how Greg is handling this all, but the boys want to do all they can to help him through.

It was a great moment to honor her - now go play your best this season for Angie!!

Shelby's games

The basketball season is well underway for the TMS girls. Shelby is doing great - despite what she thought was a slow start. The pictures below are from the game in West Side:

The girls have learned a bunch and are continuing to improve. They have a couple of wins now and Shelby had 8 points in her best game yet. The seasons are so short ~ I can't believe she only has 3 games left, but there is talk of an after season league - we'll see? Two more games this week at home and one more the next week ~ Go Lady Eagles!!!

Veteran's Day

Soda Springs puts on quite a show for Veteran's Day. Every year the elementary school sings and looks awesome in their shirts ~ looking like an american flag. The winners of the Voice of Democracy & Patriot Pen contests read their essays. The veterans stand and are honored.

This year Megan was involved with the concert choir. They sang a beautiful song ~ Irving Berlin, i think ~ This is my country. It is quite a sight and really a neat tribute to the servicemen & women.

dining re-do

I've had the bug lately to paint and try to update the house a little ~ of course we don't really have a budget so it is a little at a time. Painting needs to be done anyway, so that is what I've been busy with lately. I'm no expert, but new paint feels good ~ I still have a ton to do, but I'm going to blog as I go. So here goes with the dining room first. Our living space is all open, so everything has to blend together. Here is the dining room before:

I've decided a few new flowers for the table might bring some lie into the room - 60 % off of fall flowers on clearance at Alco in an old vase that I spray painted:

I stole the plate holder from the kitchen and bought some cheap plates on clearance at Walmart. Then I got some old frames from storage and got out the black spray paint again:

Painted the little old stand from Jim's grandparent home:

This is the after ~ not a huge change, but a little change is a good thing:

The kitchen is next - I'm thinking red!!!!
