SSHS vs. Aberdeen & Malad

Soda @ Aberdeen 1/20/11

Seth announced in starting lineup
ball handling
I didn't get very many good pictures at this game ~ way too stressful.  It was way closer than it should have been.  They had to work hard to get this one.  Take a look at the score:

Coach Bergholm telling them how to get it done.

Whew ~ too close for this mom!

The Petersens made the trip from Rockland to watch Seth ~ Thanks guys!!
Seth had a pretty good game ~ scored 13 points total ~ 2 of 2 at the foul line.

SSHS @ Malad 1/22/11

Soda headed to Malad for their 3rd game of the week.  The really need this win for their conference.  They came out strong.  Here I'll just let you read the ISJ article:

SODA SPRINGS 76
MALAD 48
Soda Springs visited Malad on Saturday night and rode 18 points each by James Frankos and Seth Stoor to a conference victory.
Tyrell Hubbard led the way for the Dragons (3-9,0-2).
The Cardinals (11-3,3-1) jumped out to a quick 13-0 lead.  The Dragons recovered, but in the third, Stoor hit four 3-pointers to break it open.
"Soda shot really well tonight, but we could not keep up with them," said Malad head coach Craig Bowen.  "A lot of shots went in and out and we just could not stop there's from just going in."
Malad host West Side on Wednesday, while Soda Springs visits American Falls on Wednesday.

Cool right?  Especially "but in the third, Stoor hit four 3-pointer to break it open".  It was crazy - Seth had 2 3-pointers in the first half & then came out on fire in the third.  You would think after he made the first or even the second that they would guard him, but they just kept leaving him open & what is a boy to do?  Ha Ha.  Bergholm put most of the starters on the bench for the 4th quarter & we still mercy ruled them.  I sure hope they carry this momentum and keep the wins coming into district tournaments.  I was trying to video ~ watch this:

Way to go Cardinals ~ keep it going ~ I want a trip to Boise in March!!!!!!!

11 step Program for those thinking of having kids

My college roommate Cindy posted this on Facebook the other day ~ I thought it was pretty funny!

11 Step Program for those thinking of Having Kids

Lesson 1

1. Go to the grocery store.
2. Arrange to have your salary paid directly to their head office.
3. Go home.
4. Pick up the paper.
5. Read it for the last time.

Lesson 2

Before you finally go ahead and have children, find a couple who already are parents and berate them about their...
1. Methods of discipline.
2. Lack of patience.
3. Appallingly low tolerance levels.
4. Allowing their children to run wild.
5. Suggest ways in which they might improve their child's breastfeeding, sleep habits, toilet training, table manners, and overall behavior.
Enjoy it because it will be the last time in your life you will have all the answers.

Lesson 3

A really good way to discover how the nights might feel...
1. Get home from work and immediately begin walking around the living room from 5PM to 10PM carrying a wet bag weighing approximately 8-12 pounds, with a radio turned to static (or some other obnoxious sound) playing loudly. (Eat cold food with one hand for dinner)
2. At 10PM, put the bag gently down, set the alarm for midnight, and go to sleep.
3. Get up at 12 and walk around the living room again, with the bag, until 1AM.
4. Set the alarm for 3AM.
5. As you can't get back to sleep, get up at 2AM and make a drink and watch an infomercial.
6. Go to bed at 2:45AM.
7. Get up at 3AM when the alarm goes off.
8. Sing songs quietly in the dark until 4AM.
9. Get up. Make breakfast. Get ready for work and go to work (work hard and be productive)

Repeat steps 1-9 each night. Keep this up for 3-5 years. Look cheerful and together.

Lesson 4

Can you stand the mess children make? T o find out...
1. Smear peanut butter onto the sofa and jam onto the curtains.
2. Hide a piece of raw chicken behind the stereo and leave it there all summer.
3. Stick your fingers in the flower bed.
4. Then rub them on the clean walls.
5. Take your favorite book, photo album, etc. Wreck it.
6. Spill milk on your new pillows. Cover the stains with crayons. How does that look?

Lesson 5

Dressing small children is not as easy as it seems.
1. Buy an octopus and a small bag made out of loose mesh.
2. Attempt to put the octopus into the bag so that none of the arms hang out.

Time allowed for this - all morning.

Lesson 6

Forget the BMW and buy a mini-van. And don't think that you can leave it out in the driveway spotless and shining. Family cars don't look like that.
1. Buy a chocolate ice cream cone and put it in the glove compartment.
Leave it there.
2. Get a dime. Stick it in the CD player.
3. Take a family size package of chocolate cookies. Mash them into the back seat. Sprinkle cheerios all over the floor, then smash them with your foot.
4. Run a garden rake along both sides of the car.

Lesson 7

Go to the local grocery store. Take with you the closest thing you can find to a pre-school child. (A full-grown goat is an excellent choice). If you intend to have more than one child, then definitely take more than one goat. Buy your week's groceries without letting the goats out of your sight. Pay for everything the goat eats or destroys. Until you can easily accomplish this, do not even contemplate having children.

Lesson 8

1. Hollow out a melon.
2. Make a small hole in the side.
3. Suspend it from the ceiling and swing it from side to side.
4. Now get a bowl of soggy Cheerios and attempt to spoon them into the swaying melon by pretending to be an airplane.
5. Continue until half the Cheerios are gone.
6. Tip half into your lap. The other half, just throw up in the air.

You are now ready to feed a nine- month-old baby.

Lesson 9

Learn the names of every character from Sesame Street , Barney, Disney, the Teletubbies, and Pokemon. Watch nothing else on TV but PBS, the Disney channel or Noggin for at least five years. (I know, you're thinking What's 'Noggin'?) Exactly the point.

Lesson 10

Make a recording of Fran Drescher saying 'mommy' repeatedly. (Important: no more than a four second delay between each 'mommy'; occasional crescendo to the level of a supersonic jet is required). Play this tape in your car everywhere you go for the next four years. You are now ready to take a long trip with a toddler.

Lesson 11

Start talking to an adult of your choice. Have someone else continually tug on your skirt hem, shirt- sleeve, or elbow while playing the 'mommy' tape made from Lesson 10 above. You are now ready to have a conversation with an adult while there is a child in the room.

This is all very tongue in cheek; anyone who is parent will say 'it's all worth it!' Share it with your friends, both those who do and don't have kids. I guarantee they'll get a chuckle out of it. Remember, a sense of humor is one of the most important things you'll need when you become a parent!

Idaho State Journal photos

There was a guy on the floor in front of us at the Bear Lake game with a big fancy camera.  Mara & I were trying to figure out who he was;  Jim spotted these pictures in the Idaho State Journal's gallery, so I guess we know now.  I thought you might want to see them:

Soda vs. Bear Lake & West Side

Soda vs. Bear Lake 1-8-11

I'm not even sure what happened, but Soda hit a real slump.  Bear Lake couldn't miss and we couldn't hit a shot.  Final score Soda 38 Bear Lake 56.  Seth had a really frustrating night & I know was upset with himself, but needed to get ready for the next one.

Soda @ West Side 1-14-11
Biggest game of the season so far - the slump seemed to continue.  We have to have more than one player put up big numbers on the board, and they just couldn't do it in West Side.  I'm sure the toughest team we will play during the regular season.  We really struggled for 3 quarters and then I'm not sure what happened, but they came on strong.

Down 21 points going into the 4th quarter, but give them credit ~ they didn't stop playing.

Megan got to cheer with the varsity girls!  Best moment of the night for me was watching the girls having to remind Megan to cheer - she was really into watching her brother play & forgot what she was doing - LOL!

Check out the score now - quite a comeback!

Greg is really a good coach for these boys - trying hard to help them pull out a comeback.

Final score West Side 65 Soda 61
They didn't quite make it, but the last quarter was amazing.  They scored 31 points in one quarter - Seth had a 3 point shot that was a long one.  Unfortunately that was his only shot of the night - he did play great defense, but just couldn't get the shots in.  If they play more than one good quarter, we will take this matchup when we play again on senior night - Feb. 9th.  I cant' wait!!

Soda vs. Malad

After that, when the game actually begins, I'm pretty worthless.

Seth bleeding again - cut on the back of his earlobe - how does that happen?

tail end of a 3 point shot - listen for Jim's voice!

team ball - love it!

Soda played Malad at home 1/5/11 ~ yes I'm way behind on blogs, but trying desperately to catch up before the 3 games this week get the best of me.  This was the first game back after the holidays & I was worried they might be a little rusty, but silly me, they came out strong.
Final score of this one Soda 69 Malad 51.

Megan's cheer team

It's been lots of fun watching Megan cheer on the J.V. team before Seth's games - they look great so I'm gonna share some pix and videos - Enjoy!!!

Looking good girls - keep it up!!!

New Years

The New Years Eve party was at my house this year, well kind of.  The plan was for a party at my house, but the older cousins didn't co-operate and got there at 12:15.  It wasn't really their fault.  Logan, Jake & Colton had gone to Atlanta.  Shay, Katie & Mara Mae went to Salt Lake to pick them up at the airport.  Delayed flights and all the fun stuff that goes along with traveling got them home a little late.  We greeted them at the door with a "happy new year" shout and pots & pans banging.  We had a great time together playing cards, watching movies, cross country skiing & just having fun.  It was short, but anytime we get with cousins is awesome.

Wall to Wall cousins - I love it!!

SSE Blog experiment

I've started tinkering with the idea of a blog for my office - I posted this on the wrong account - off to a great start you see, but some of you may find it interesting so I guess I'll leave it up - you can ignore it if ya want :)

Spring 2010
The new bins came & they made it look so easy to put them up - scroll down quickly and you see them go up before your very eyes:

Kind of fun to watch? ~ at least I though so ~ now how about a video of the process:
